Get Summer Ready - Bye, Bye Cellulite

Get Summer Ready - Bye, Bye Cellulite

Hello, Bikini Body!

Cellulite is the worst and a beast to get rid of no matter what size you are. Starting somewhere in your mid 20’s, or even in your teens, the cellulite starts to take over your thighs, your buttocks, tummy, and arms. It is the angst of about 90 percent of all women but there is good news! There is a way you actually prevent cellulite and with some simple changes, get rid of what is already there.

Here is the scoop - by cutting back fat in those trouble areas, building collagen in your skin, and increasing blood circulation, you can shed most of your embarrassing fatty patches. That is the brief overview of how to fight this monster, but first, we need to know what we are dealing with.

How does cellulite form?

To put it simply, cellulite pops up when there is an increase of estrogen, which happens to all aging women, and when blood circulation decreases to the fat throughout the body. This inhibits and breaks down the collagen around fat cells, allowing those cells to increase in size, spread, and form cellulite.

Since, for women, our estrogen is only increasing as we age, there has to be some way to keep our collagen alive and legs looking ready for shorts and bikinis! Here are a few tips on how to prepare for that before we get into the swing of summer!

Three Things To Help Cellulite Disappear

1. Exercise - Cellulite is a result of a sedentary lifestyle for most women, aka desk jobs. Unlike our ancestors, we are no longer tending the fields and spending our days on our feet. Literally, you can even have your groceries delivered to your doorstep. All that not moving, is slowing down your blood circulation, inhibiting the oxygen and nutrients needed to produce collagen, and therefore, increasing cellulite.

It might sound easier than it really is but increasing activity is crucial to decreasing cellulite. Just try adding a walk in, tracking your steps, and working for the 10,000 a day.  Then, mix in strength training three times a week and it will make all the difference. At the end of the day though, just find something active you love doing, and make it a point when you get home to add it in! Remember, increased blood circulation = decreased cellulite.

2. Add Caffeine - No, we don’t mean drinking it either! Studies done on cellulite say that a huge factor in strengthening your skin and losing fat, is increasing your collagen. One of the ways to do that is through caffeine, aka coffee beans. Coffee Beans contain rich fatty acids and vitamins that rebuild collagen and elastin that is going to strengthen your skin and get rid of cellulite. Your skin absorbs 60% of what you put on it and finding a natural product, filled with good nutrients is going to help.

You could try creating a coffee bean scrub using olive oil, sugar, and ground coffee (mix + massage onto trouble spot for about five minutes before rinsing), or you could use a Coffee Bean Oil to massage thoroughly into your skin daily.

3. Eat Clean - Diet is definitely a contributing factor to cellulite, there is no doubt. It is more than just cutting out carbs and sugar, although, limiting that would definitely help. In order to give your body what it needs, you need to be eating a balanced, healthy meal. A well balanced meal will help you regulate hormones (aka keep down that estrogen) and keep from adding fat to those already troublesome areas. You need to be eating lots of rich vegetables and food with good fat, not bad fat. Try making simple changes in your diet. Like start substituting salmon for red meat or pork. Add in almond for a snack instead of chips. And always, keep your plate green for the extra nutrients that your cells need.

These tips, with some simple others like moisturizing naturally and staying hydrated, are a sure way to see a difference in the cellulite that has been increasing with your age.
