We can't deny that every once in a while our face needs a pick-me-up (am I right?). Especially when we haven't given it any special treatment in a while, our face needs something more powerful than a simple weekly mask.
We've seen them, and we're sure you've seen them - Turmeric Face Mask recipes are everywhere online. One thing we've noticed though is that it seems that no one has really tried them! (Or at least tried them and wrote about them.) We decided to make one ourselves and tell you about our experience. We looked through all the other recipes, found one we liked, and made it our own to give you the scoop.
We're proud to say that our Organic Rosehip Oil Turmeric Face Mask is perfect for soothing acne, wrinkled, scarred, damaged, or just tired skin that hasn't seen a face mask in a while. We not only love the ingredients - rosehip oil, turmeric, yogurt, honey, and lemon - but also that it will make your skin feel and look wonderful naturally.
Why These Ingredients Are Fab For Your Skin
Rosehip Oil contains omega-3 and omega-6 which are powerful essential fatty acids. It treats irritation or inflammation like scrapes, sunburns, and acne. If you'd like firmer skin, Rosehip Oil is an astringent which naturally plumps and hydrates skin. You can also use Rosehip Oil to smooth out any dark spots in your complexion.
Turmeric is a really potent anti-aging ingredient. It reduces inflammation and decreases oil production in your skin. This means that your acne or dark spots can be treated and diminished just by using turmeric. It's also an awesome antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals, and protecting your skin from further damage.
Yogurt contains lactic acid which exfoliates your skin, removing any dead skin cells, and clearing up your skin. Other vitamins and minerals in yogurt will make your skin firm, treat signs of aging, and heal damaged skin making this a great ingredient to make any skin look and feel young.
Honey is a antibacterial agent, making it a fantastic cleanser for acne and blackhead prone faces. It also moisturizes and opens up pores, making your skin clean and bright.
Lemon is also an antibacterial agent, clearing up blackheads and cleaning pores. Any age spots or sun damaged skin will improve with lemon because it heals skin and evens out skin tone. Acetic acid in the lemon also removes dead skin cells while cleaning and freshening.
Organic Rosehip Oil Turmeric Face Mask Recipe
4 Drops Leven Rose Organic Rosehip Oil
1 Teaspoon Turmeric
1 Teaspoon Plain Unsweetened Yogurt
1 Teaspoon Raw Organic Honey (best if it's local)
1 Teaspoon Lemon (As always, fresh is best!)
A Word To The Wise
Before working with this scrub, be aware that turmeric will stain your clothing easily! We wore clothing we didn't mind ruining and after wiping off the face mask, the washcloth was stained beyond repair - so make sure that you won't miss your shirt or your washcloth before you get started.
We suggest using this mask before going to bed or when you have a day at home because after removing the face mask, you may have an orange tint to your face. (You don't want to look like an oompa loompa at work.) To get rid of the extra orange tint, you can use an oil cleanse with our Pomegranate Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil or Cold Pressed Rosehip Oil. If you do, use this face mask before bed. Use an expendable pillowcase, just in case.
Let's Get Masking
Mix together all the ingredients and apply on your face using your fingers. Avoid your eye area - turmeric is a potent ingredient and eye irritant, so you don't want to get it in your eyes. Wash your fingers afterward to avoid leaving orange fingerprints everywhere (take it from us).
Leave the face mask on for 30 minutes and then remove with a washcloth. Scrub your face with another clean washcloth to get deep into your pores.
After wiping off your face mask, we recommend doing a oil cleanse to get the remaining turmeric pigment out. We love our Pomegranate Oil for this since it's great at shrinking pores naturally or follow up with more Rosehip Oil. Apply the oil to a cotton ball and methodically, wipe your face. Repeat as necessary. Your face may still have a slight orange tint but it shouldn't be significantly noticeable to anyone other than you. Don't worry - it'll be gone by the time you wash your face again the next morning.
When we used this mask, we noticed that blackheads cleared up, the dark spots on our face evened out, and our face was definitely brighter (and it wasn't from the turmeric glow!). It made our faces feel firmer and refreshed.
Use it then lose it - Because yogurt is perishable, this face mask doesn't keep well. Use the mask as soon as you make it.
Wearing this mask is sure to make you look strange, so invite a friend over to wear your masks together!
