How long is the storage life of my Jojoba Oil?

The shelf life of Jojoba Oil depends on how it is stored, but if it's out of direct sunlight, and kept in a cool dry place, it should be good for more than three years from purchase date.

How do you pronounce Jojoba?

It's pronounced as hoh-HOH-buh.

How should I be applying my Beard Oil?

Put a dime-sized amount in the palm of your hand, then rub into fingertips. Use your fingertips to apply the oil to the skin under your beard. After working into the skin, pull your fingers downward through your beard, applying the oil through your beard. If there is any excess, wipe off with a towel. Apply slightly less next time to aim for the perfect amount. For best results, keep away from direct sunlight and store in a location at room temperature. For external use only. Keep away from flames, high heat and reach of children.

What is the comedogenic rating of your oils?

The comedogenic rating of Jojoba Oil is 2, but since our oil is a premium grade that has the heavier, cruder waxy esters filtered to maximize its closeness to your own sebum (skin oil) for the best absorption, we estimate it might be closer to 0 or 1.

Pomegranate Oil, Emu Oil, Rosehip Oil & Castor Oil all have a comedogenic rating of 1. Argan Oil has a comedogenic rating of 0 & Tamanu Oil has a rating of 2.

Where should I be storing my oil?

All oils should be stored away from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place. The amber bottle keeps out UV rays, but keeping it away from direct light limits the temperature swings that may impact its longevity. Obviously keep it away from flames, high heat, or children.

Where is Leven Rose located?

We're based in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado USA. Every day (unless it's snowing or raining), we get to see Pikes Peak, one of America's most famous mountains in the Rockies, and the source of inspiration for the words to the song "America the Beautiful"!

Do your oils contain parabens?

Big ol' NOPE!

How should I use Beard Oil versus Beard Balm?

Many guys use them both! Beard Oil makes the skin under your beard softer and combats "bearddruff" - that dry, flaky skin that's worse than dandruff. It also moisturizes and softens your beard overall, especially when used daily. Beard Balm is for shaping the more unruly beards for a more advanced groomed look. Use as a finishing product after using Beard Oil after washing your beard. Massage Beard Oil through your beard all the way to your skin and pull through your beard hairs. Finish by shaping with the Beard Balm to get the desired "groomed man" effect.

Are your oils non-GMO?

YES!

Are your oils organic?

We can guarantee that our oil is natural and organic! All of our oils have met the specifications for what constitutes as an 100% organic oil. Due to the lengthy and expensive process to certify every single part of our supply chain for each oil, we have not yet submitted for the USDA-branded stamp.

What does the Beard Oil do?

After a few days of applying the Beard Oil to your beard, you should notice your beard hair getting softer, more manageable, and more groomed looking. The Beard Oil should also help the dry skin under the beard that may cause itching, and flaky skin (as many people un-affectionately call "bearddruff" - yuck!).

Is the Jojoba Oil cold-pressed?

Yes!

Does Rosehip Oil smell like roses?

No. Rosehip Oil is made from the seeds of a wild rose bush from Chile, which is more like a shrub, and very different than the roses you get for special occasions! Do not be surprised that it does not have a "rose" scent since it's not from the same plant.

I use a toner. When should I apply it?

If you are applying a toner to your skin, you will want to apply the toner before applying the Jojoba, Argan or Rosehip Oil.

How do I use the Jojoba Oil as a carrier oil for essential oils?

Mix your desired amount of essential oil with your Jojoba Oil and apply as you wish. Be sure to store your essential oil in a dark glass bottle also for maximum longevity.

How should I deal with my coarse beard?

We've heard that only washing your beard with soap a few times a week but moisturizing it daily really helps the health of the beard. We've also gotten lots of feedback of using a boar hair bristle brush to lay the hair down smoother and smoothes out our Beard Oil throughout all your beard hairs. Use the Beard Oil daily to the base of your beard to the skin, pull it through your beard, brush it through and follow with our Beard Balm to add extra shaping. Regular trimming of any split ends keeps them looking as scraggly as well. Send us your extra tips on what's worked for you too!

Do your fragrance free beard products have a scent?

While anything we make that is "fragrance free" doesn't have any scented fillers or essential oils, they are comprised of natural oils themselves and may have a light scent themselves. Usually they're so mild that you shouldn't notice them, but depending on your pheromones (your body's natural scent), it's possible that a sensitive nose might pick it up after wearing it for a while. This really depends person to person! Drop us a note if you have any questions. : )

How should I start using my oil?

For most oils (other than the beard products), it's usually best to try it on a small area to make sure you don't have any reactions. Then add a few drops to your usual routine as instructed on the bottle. If it advises you to use it on your skin, it's best to add it to your regular moisturizer in your skin care routine to get your skin acclimated to using it. Enjoy!
